Remy (Jerry) is born in Fall River.

The son of Joseph and Connie Remy, Jerry Remy grows up in Somerset, breaks into major league baseball with the California Angels in 1975, and is traded to the Red Sox in 1977. He becomes an All Star second baseman, but is forced to stop playing due to knee injuries in 1985. After coaching briefly, he serves as television color commentator for the Red Sox (1988-2021), and becomes a beloved figure throughout Red Sox Nation, nicknamed “RemDawg” by fellow announcer Sean McDonough, and known for his insight into the game, local accent, and self-deprecating sense of humor. Stricken with cancer in 2008, Remy succumbs after a long battle with the disease on October 30, 2021.
